History
Originally established in 1989 as Kane Industrial Sales, Western Woodlot was one of the first companies to import portable sawmilling technology to Canada, bringing the thin-kerf sawmilling industry to the forefront of lumber production. Demand for blades and sharpening services increased exponentially over the following years, and it quickly became apparent that this was the wave of the future for sawmilling. In partnership with Dinasaw, Western Woodlot became the major Dino bandsaw sharpener dealer for North America, importing and distributing the Dino product line to various locations across the continent. In the early 90’s increased demand for saw blades saw Western Woodlot become a dealer for MK Morse band saw blades, and at the same time continued to import blade stock directly from other dealers and manufacture custom blades for specialty clients. 1997 saw the development of Western Woodlot’s very own industry-geared sawmill, aptly named the Kodiak, which it created in partnership with TriPower of Salmon Arm, B.C., Canada.
